“I Just Wanted Muffins. Instead, I Got a Memoir.”

Home cook Dana Montgomery visited SweetWhiskBlessings.com to make simple banana bread, but instead found herself trapped in an emotional hostage situation involving blogger “Cricket Mama” and her harrowing tale of growing up without access to organic cinnamon.

“She opened with a 14-paragraph reflection on her estranged aunt, three detours into trauma baking, and a lengthy reflection on the symbolism of overripe fruit,” said Dana, who was trying to prep for a potluck and ended up deep in existential reflection.

The actual recipe–four ingredients and two steps–was buried beneath a cascade of sepia-toned photos, seven pop-ups, a sidebar ad for vibrational foot balm, and a 23-second autoplay video titled “Banana Bread: But Make It Emotional.”

“I wept twice before even preheating the oven,” Dana confessed. “By the time I found the flour measurement, I’d gone through her divorce and her child’s violin recital.”

Experts call this “narrative entrapment syndrome.” Dr. Philomena Zest says, “Online recipes now serve as memoirs with side quests. Cooking is secondary to emotional release.”

When reached for comment, Cricket Mama responded, “The banana bread is just a metaphor for healing. If you can’t cry while baking, don’t bake.”

The comments section includes 3,402 five-star reviews–only two of which mention the recipe. The rest applaud her courage, editing choices, and “the sheer audacity of calling butter ‘ancestral salve.'”

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
